I am half Peruvian and have been lucky enough to visit Peru in several occasions. Unfortunately, I have only visited Lima and the immediate surroundings. In spite of my limited visits, I can share some recommendations.
Lima was founded in 1535 by Francisco Pizarro as the ??City of Kings??. It is also home of the oldest university in the new world, the Universidad Nacional Mayor de San Marcos.
One of my favorite places is the Barranco District. Although it is not too hip, the nightlife is great. There are many bars like Wayos and Mochileros, that cater a laid back and unassuming crowd. If you are a cannabis aficionado, you can smoke inside some bars but be sure to always ask your waiter or bartender before you start puffing away.

Having being born and raised in Venezuela, I decided to write about it and show why it is considered ??the best kept secret of the Caribbean??.
The name Venezuela originates from the word venezuola which translates to ??little Venice??. The name was given by cartographer Americo Vespucci and explorer Alonso de Ojeda as they entered the Gulf of Venezuela and remarked that the stilt-houses (palafitos) built by the natives resembled Venice.
3 Ways To Reduce Flight Delay Stress
The Christmas travel season is upon us and chances are that you’ll be spending some time in an airport. Flight delays, long layovers, and overbooked flights await you on your journey back to family and friends.
Here are three ways to combat the stress of long airport stays.
- Relax and Accept The Circumstances – There is usually very little you can do around this time of the year. When your flight gets delayed or canceled call the airline or borrow some wireless to track your plane.
- Once you know where your plane is you won’t be disappointed if it doesn’t come at the time airline staff says it will.
- Strategize Quickly And Begin Setting Up Camp – As flights start getting delayed restaurants start filling up and power outlets become scare. The best thing to do is find a nice place you can sit down and eat, preferably with a plug nearby and call the airline from there. Avoid lines as much as you can – they don’t enhance your layover experience one bit.
- If you’ll be staying overnight, snag one of the best places to sleep in an airport.

How Well Do You Know Your World Geography?
The fun and curiously addicting free game, How Well Do You Know Your World, measures the time it takes you to locate major international cities.
The game gives you a city somewhere in the world and you drop a pin on where you think it is. Points are calculated on distance to the actual location and the time it took you to find it.
The game in entertaining for about 5 minutes. A nice little workweek diversion right before holiday rush.

47 Million Expected To Hit The Sky This Weekend
According the the Air Transportation Association the 4 busiest days of travel (in deceasing order) are Dec. 21, 27, and the 26th and Jan. 1. Check your flight status, taxi service, and the average wait through security lines before you leave the house.
Best Buy Uniform Prank
Can you imagine if someone did something like this at an airport? It’s not as
crazy as it seems.
Slavinsky wrote in to suggest I get either a large group of people in blue polo shirts and khakis to enter a Best Buy or a group in red polo shirts and khakis to enter a Target. Wearing clothing almost identical to the store??s uniform, the agents would not claim to work at the store but would be friendly and helpful if anyone had a question.
All in all 80 “employees” were asked questions, gave advice, and finally were shooed out by police. Think of the security ramifications – it seems as though we people still fall for the Trojan horse rouse (except the Turks) and all it takes are some lights on cars to get past presidential security.
Confessions Of An Airline Executive
An anonymous airline executive who has spent the last 10 years working in public and customer relations has spilled the beans as reported by CNN.
Consumers marvel at the ease and convenience of booking through an online travel site like Expedia or Orbitz, but airlines have to pay those sites as much as $10 per flight for the booking. It’s no wonder that the lowest fares are usually found on the airline’s own Web site.
I’ve written that before and debunked some other travel myths. The rest of the confessions in the article are no new news (like luggage gets lost and don’t expect refunds for non-refundable tickets), but good common sense advice.

In-Flight Internet Catching On
Some airlines will begin to offer wireless Internet during flights. No word on costs yet, although Lufthansa offers the service for free.
