You can get your airline food served to you faster if you order a specialized meal. Kosher, vegetarian, or something of the like. If you can live with one of the options available to you from your airline (take Virgin if you want the most selection) you’ll get your food on average of 10 minutes before everyone else.

View International Photo Jounals with Travelblogger
Posted by foxnomad under Keep in Touch , Travel JournalLeave a Comment
Travelblogger is an online community of travelers who write and post on the countries around the world they’ve visited (sound familiar)? Anyway, it is possible to get some useful information out of the site, but be warned you’ll have to click through a lot of crap entries to find something that’s worthwhile. Once you do however, it’ll most likely be a gem. The best part of the site are the pictures, which you can search through without signing up. Simply enter in a destination and click to see hundreds of sights.
Travelblogger is free to join but there are many other ways to keep in touch when you’re away from home.

Is Your Site Blocked by the Great Firewall of China?
Posted by foxnomad under Security , Tech[2] Comments
The Great Firewall of China censors large parts of the Internet for those connecting from within her borders. The site, greatwallofchina.org, is a free online utility that lets you check if any of your favorite virtual destinations are blocked. (foXnoMad is blocked by the way.) A good way to find out if you can get to leave a comment on your BFF’s Myspace. “ooooh, like omg, China is so way cool!”
The best way to get around the GWOC is to download an application like Tor, send IMs with encrypted Meebo, or remote access your computer in a free country and surf that way.

Meebo Map Shows Where People Are Messaging From in Real-Time
Posted by foxnomad under Geek , Keep in TouchLeave a Comment

The map, created by one of our favorite (free) instant messaging utilities, Meebo is updated every 15 minute. The Meebo map shows where in the world people are sending messages from (Siberia!?) Meebo combines all of your existing AIM, MSN, and other accounts with your existing usernames and passwords.
You might want to consider it if you’re having trouble sending IMs from school (or work) or would like more privacy while chatting.

New Airline SkyBus Offers Flights To Mid-Major Cities For $10 One-Way
Posted by foxnomad under Air , Car , Deals , Lodging[2] Comments
Startup airline Skybus is attempting to corner the industry on flights to mid-major cities. Flights during the week are $10 all of the places they currently fly too and up to $30 on the weekends. The catch is for now flights only go in and out of Columbus, Ohio - so unless you live there your first 10 bucks goes to stopping over at the Buckeye State (taxes and fees not included). Travel is only within the domestic US.

The Washington Post has a nice review on this recent film that “has no plot…but engrossing strange movie about the soccer superstar.” Zidane: A 21st Century Portrait is showing in and around the DC area for free as well as other locations.
From the review:
There’s surprisingly little artiness in the whole piece. Or rather, the film’s peculiarities seem to be there to serve its subject matter, the way a more standard technique might. That’s why they’re not off-putting to almost anyone. They reveal the artists’ profound respect for their subject, and a desire to use the tools of current art to come to grips with him: with all his gestures and tics, with who and how he is, and with what it is to be him on the soccer field, where he is most himself. Or at least, the only him that truly matters to his fans.
The film will also be available from Netflix. If you don’t like the film, remember don’t talk about his sister. As you watch the film marvel at the physical ability he displays, despite being a smoker. If you don’t know who he is, perhaps this will remind you.

Seems that “Hey Hey You You” is the universal language. Is she singing all of these?
Wait! There’s more…
