The smoking ban set to go in effect on July 1 includes the smoking of shisha.
There are now an estimated 600 cafes, lounges and nightclubs across the UK and even dedicated British music acts and DJ collectives with names such as Shisha Sound System. Between 30,000 and 40,000 people come to Edgware Road to smoke shisha every week.
A “smoking license” would help consumers determine where they want to spend their money. Establishments could apply to be smoking-only and take their chances at a drop in business. Doubt that would happen if your business is selling shisha.

German politicians are not happy about this picture published earlier in the week.

The two men are the president of Poland and his brother, the lady is German Chancellor Angela Merkel. Perhaps you can rent yourself for or against this.

Frequent flier miles are difficult to redeem and rarely add up to free tickets due to expiration rules. Several charities accept frequent flier mile donations including those which help the families of solders serving in Iraq.
With so many American families divided due to the war in Iraq, you can help out by donating to The Fisher House. This not-for-profit organization supports American military troops by aiding in humanitarian efforts outside of what the Department of Defense and Veteran Affairs can provide. Their program, Operation Hero Miles, is overseen by The Fisher House for the Department of Defense and supplies free airline tickets to military personnel undergoing treatment due to injuries received while serving in Afghanistan or Iraq.
Donations to a number of charities may be an attractive alternative since most expire after a limited amount of time. (United Airlines’ miles disappear after 18 months.) Unfortunately donated miles are not eligible for tax deduction. [via Consumerist]

Approximately 400 smoker’s rights activists are set to make their last stand today to urge the government to ease the upcoming smoking ban.
Smoking will be banned in almost all public places in England beginning July 1 (as France did earlier this year). It is unlikely that the government will reverse any portion of their decision since most of the public supports the ban. Second hand smoke has been classified a cause of cancer in humans (by the FDA) and causes 50,000 deaths in the United States alone annually.
The tobacco industry could have saved itself but instead they now market to minorities to make up for sales.

From L’avant Poste to foXnoMad, the site is one year old (as of June 24). So, well happy birthday to us!
What began as a blog to keep a group of friends morphed into a travel blog and spawned a few other siblings. It’s been hard work, but lots of fun and the writers have got no intention of slowly down anytime soon.
Comments about the posts, site, or random “anything what-say-you” in the comments - holla!
Here is the very first post…

A man who lost his ball in a golf course pond nearly lost a limb…to a one-eyed gator.

MizPee is a free service that allows (US residents) to text their city and state to the following number - 415-350-2290 - to find the nearest bathroom. Each result is rated on cleanliness, handicap access, and includes the distance from your current location.
MizPee is still in beta so don’t expect flawless service, if you notice any bugs let us know. Remember to include details of the area (or even block) you’re on to get the most accurate results.
With a little foresight, you can get detailed information on the bathrooms along your travel path by reading the Bathroom Diaries before you head out the door.

American Airlines is offering credit for plane tickets to encourage passengers to fly - no interest and no payments for 6 months.
The typical “No Payments No Interest” store credit rules apply. You have 6 months to pay off the tickets. If you don’t, American Airlines will charge you interest from the date of purchase at up to 26.05%. You do not want that to happen. [via Consumerist]
You can apply for AA credit online right now before you book your next flight.
