Most of the road along the way is paved two-lane highway (with cars and bikes going in any direction) although there are some rough patches along the way. My planning for that trip was very tight the day before, so I opted for the convenience of the car. I think that symbol that you are referring to that the guy is making…is usually used in india to show something that is made well…(eg a delicious food that you are having).
