NEW IMAGES!

Upon Taylor Davidson’s suggestion, I made my way across the street from the Red Fort to one of Delhi’s oldest markets, Chandni Chowk. Below are some of my pictures from the market and a video to give you a better description of the area.

The entire area is crowded, although the merchants were tamer than I expected, except for two overzealous sari shop owners. You can find clothing, jewelery, food, and spices along the main strip and tight side alleys of Chandni Chowk.

The Red Fort in Delhi was one high on my list of travel plans for Delhi and it was where I ended up first. The busy tourist attraction is especially interesting if archeology and history are your fancy. The fort is located in a busy part of town and the parking restrictions mean you’ll have a short minute past eager street merchants to get to the entrance if arriving by car or taxi.

I’ve finally gotten around to uploading a few pictures I took from my recent trip to Bangalore, India. Enjoy!

I’ve posted a few pictures from the charity basketball tournament that myself, Peaceluvbug, and D-Train competed in this past June. We fought hard, but lost all three of our games - but the experience was good and we’ll be ready next year.

Thank you all to who contributed and helped us raise $1,000 for homeless shelters around the Washington DC area.

Also, some of you have some more pictures - could you send those my way?

Thanks :)

Are uploaded, if you don’t have it already, you can contact me for the password.

Peaceluvbug wrote about her recent trip to Brussels.

Honestly, it was the cheapest trip RyanAir was offering and I speak the language, so we thought we??d go for it. Hotels in Brussels are VERY cheap, so we ended up staying at a 4-star hotel It was about the same price as staying at a nice hostel, so of course we picked the place where we could shower and leave our stuff in the room! The hotel was walking distance from the city center (Le Grand Place), right next to the European Commission and the European Parliament, and very near a huge park. I got to use my French, which was nice.

Here are some interesting tidbits about the city of Brussels:

  • About 1/3 of the 1 million inhabitants of Brussels are foreigners.
  • It is the headquarters of the European Union.
  • Brussels is a bilingual city, meaning all street signs are both in Dutch AND French.

You can read the rest and take a look at the pictures from her trip. There’s also London, Barcelona, and 8 places you should visit but might be scared to.

Everglades_Florida

SBH was kind enough to send us pictures from her recent trip to the Sawgrass Recreation Park in the Everglades, Florida.

A 30 minute group airboat tour runs about $20-25. (By the way, that’s not a group airboat below, it’s just a picture of an airboat).

Can you see the alligator?

Can you see him now?

The first airboat tour of the day leaves just after 9 a.m. and the tours continue to operate every thirty minutes throughout the day until the final airboat leaves at 4:30 p.m. We recommend that you and your group show up no later than 3 p.m. so that you may visit the animal exhibits first and then take the final tour of the day.

Over 10,000 islands make up the Everglades.

These are alligators in the Everglades, there are no crocodiles. Don’t know how to tell the difference? The easiest thing to remember is that you can see an alligators teeth when its mouth is closed.

You can visit the tour website here and see all of the pictures here. Remember, the Everglades are an endangered habitat and the home of 68 threatened and endangered species. For more information and how to help you can check the Everglades Foundation. Only about half of the original Everglades remains and 90% of the bird life has been killed by human activities.

If we don’t do anything to protect the land and the birds of the Everglades, they won’t be left for future generations to see. Questions and such you can holla in the comments.

Thanks SBH!

Our very own Peaceluvbug has somehow managed to find her way over to the land of Antonio Bandaras otherwise known as Spain. She has pictures posted as well as some travel tips and advice. You can see the pictures here and read her blog about the trip here.

As in any other big city, the metro is a cheap way to get virtually anywhere. Placa de Catalunya is the main stop on La Rambla (kind of like the MetroCenter stop in D.C.). Once you learn how to use the metro in one city, every other city is easy to figure out. You just need to know which direction you are going! Here we found out that people are extremely helpful. Most people in the La Rambla area speak English? actually, many people in Barcelona speak English. Everyone we talked to was very willing and able to help us when we needed it!

Spain is very high up on my list of places to visit, anyone else been there? I think a stop over would require a combo trip to Morocco.

These are a few of my favorites, you can click here for the rest.

Flowers in February.

Naughty pigs.

Stunt bicycle?

Cable cars (of course).

Good advice.

Sounds of Pier 39

Took place on January 12-14 and guess who was there. It was a pretty large offering of bikes, from your standard crotch rockets, pimped choppers, Harley’s, and some lesser known models (Urals for instance).

A good sized show for riders and enthusiasts, though it would have been cool to see come crazier “fancy” bikes. A very nice selection overall. I took a bunch of pictures for anyone interested in motorcycles. The first few on page 1 are of a $200,000+ camper that was more luxurious than any house I have ever live in - check it out.
