Charity

I launched a personal donation page for foXnoMad and all of you mid-2006 with the hopes of raising $,1000 before 2007.

We reached our goal that year with your help. Since then our little page has helped to raise $1,454.81. UNICEF is doing some restructuring of its site, so our page is being retired. A new redesigned page site slated for sometime in April.

There are some other great (and free) ways to help the world around you - donate some frequent flier miles, click to give free mammograms, or define words for free rice.

Thank you again for your contributions!!

This month our UNICEF fund grew by 25 more dollars. Since I opened up the charity site in late 2005, you’ve helped to raise $1404.81. Thank you to everyone who has contributed! Remember, you can donate at any time.

Next time you’re bored online, increase your vocabulary and be a philanthropist at the same time. Free Rice is a United Nations sponsored online game that asks you to define words (multiple choice). For each correct answer a 20 grain contribution will be made in your name.

The questions begin easy enough and increase with difficulty. In addition to Free Rice, vegetable oils, cereal blends, and other essential foodstuff are also send. There are plenty of free ways to contribute to causes online, like clicking for free mammograms - of course, there is also the old fashioned way. For example, donating $5 to our UNICEF site.

Thanks Peaceluvbug!?

foXnoMad readers raised $53.27 for UNICEF during the month of October. Since Kimberly-Clark is matching all donations above $50 for a limited time, you’ve effectively helped to raise $106.54.

Thank you everyone! You can see how much we’ve raised over the long run at our donations page.

Children can create their own UNICEF fund by participating in this year’s trick-or-treat.

Help them create their own trick-or-treat website or order a collection box for their classroom.

Instead of simply donating money to a cause you can finance small loans to poor entrepreneurs all over the world on Kiva.

Kiva lets you connect with and loan money to unique small businesses in the developing world. By choosing a business on Kiva.org, you can “sponsor a business” and help the world’s working poor make great strides towards economic independence. Throughout the course of the loan (usually 6-12 months), you can receive email journal updates from the business you’ve sponsored. As loans are repaid, you get your loan money back.

Kiva lets you keep in touch with those you microfinance, keeping track of their progress and getting updates along the way. Those of you short on extra bling can use your mouse to sponsor mammograms or donate your frequent flier miles to various causes.

foXnoMad readers have donated over $1,000 to UNICEF. Now the organization is offering to match donations above $50.

Our UNICEF donation site is always active and the minimum is only $5 if $50 is out of your budget.

Keep in mind that October is Breast Cancer Awareness Month and advertisers are sponsoring free mammograms. All you have to do is click!

foXnoMad readers donated $25 to our UNICEF fund last month.

Thank you everyone and keep donating!

Despite the fact that now, fewer that 10 million children die preventable deaths every year, UNICEF still needs your help.

Last year, 9.7 million children died, mostly due to the lack of immunizations to diseases such as measles. You can donate here.

Contributions this month to our UNICEF page totaled $26.46.

You can make a donation at anytime here.

Thank you everyone!
