The Setting Sun Of Santa Cruz

santa cruz

I was able to get some time at the beach during a recent trip to California. I wasn’t able to stay long in Santa Cruz, but from what I can tell it definitely looks like a party town. The houses lining the beach were packed with barbecuers, students, and permanent beach bums.

I live just south across the bay! Did you make it down to Monterey while you were there?

I lived in Santa Cruz for eight years before I traveled. It is a very social area, although can be very cliquey. It can take time to get to know people. I did cultivate some wonderful friends and Santa Cruz is a great place to learn how to dance and play music.

    @ Casey:

It was highly recommended and I heard a lot of great things about Monterey but I got short on time and couldn’t make it :(

Didn’t know you were out that way!

    @ Shawn:

Seems like a very active town, with a lot of people coming in and out (vacationers/students). That can make it difficult to get to know people easily.

I’d really like to read about the months, weeks, days leading up to your decision to hit the road for good now. The pre-trip mind journey if you will, have you written any posts like that?

Quite beautiful picture. Am longing to the ocean. Hope I can visit Santa Cruz some day, or in fact…I want to visit the whole California.

  5. Deniz says:

Nice picture! I want to go back to Californiaaa! :)

    @ Erica:

    Have you ever been?

I’ve been there a few times now and love it every time.

    @ Deniz:

I stopped by Stanford (will be posting pictures later in the week) you should go there for a semester!

  7. Deniz says:

    Hahah I wish…maybe grad school :P

  8. Anil P. says:

    @ Deniz:

It’s an awesome campus, so many open green spaces and lots of activity around. I felt smarter just being there.

  9. Erica says:

@Anil, Not yet. Only been to the east coast, Michigan and Ohio so far.

  10. Anil P. says:

    @ Erica:

    California won’t disappoint!
